Are you passionate about supporting whānau to take control of their health and wellbeing?
We’re looking for a Kaitūruki (Health Coach) to join our team at Stewart Street Surgery a kaupapa Māori general practice based in rural Marton.

This role is all about walking alongside whānau, helping them to understand their hauora needs, set meaningful health goals, and build the skills and confidence to achieve them.

You’ll work closely with our general practice team, including Health Improvement Practitioners, nurses, GPs and kaiāwhina, providing culturally safe, strength-based support that reflects whānau values and aspirations.

In this role, you will:

  • Support whānau to manage stress, lifestyle changes, and long-term conditions.
  • Promote health literacy and self-management skills.
  • Help navigate the health system and connect with local services.
  • Apply a Whānau Ora approach to holistic care planning.
  • Be a trusted, ongoing support in a rural Māori community.

What you’ll bring:

  • A strong grounding in kaupapa Māori and commitment to health equity.
  • Great people skills, empathy, and confidence working with diverse whānau.
  • Experience in health, education, social services or community roles is an advantage.
  • A willingness to learn; full training is provided through Whanganui Regional Health Network.
